Though it's been a warmer January than usual, the first few weeks of the new year have been much wetter too. Still, we've avoided the snow (so far), and with the days lengthening and the sunshine putting in an occasional guest star appearance, it's a case of persuading the chainsaw to start, keeping the woodburners fed and hoping for an early spring.

As throughout much of 2017, there continues to be fewer houses coming to the market than in recent years - and many which have been for sale for some time have now been sold. It's likely that this trend will translate into a firming of asking prices later in the year, especially if the current level of demand continues.
