Even though the nights are drawing in and the annual log delivery is already carefully stacked away, the warm afternoons and balmy autumn evenings mean that the wood burners are only intermittently back in action. And with Halloween fast approaching, a local pumpkin fair offers a neat solution to the search for the essential accessory – and the danger of once again losing parental points in the event of failure has been averted.

In spite of everything that’s come to pass over the last year or so, the volume of house sales remains surprisingly high – though, as has been the case for some time, there are fewer new properties coming to the market. What effect this will have on the market is yet to be seen, though we wouldn’t expect this to translate into firmer prices until the new year.
