Good golfing in the Dordogne and Lot-et-Garonne, France

The southwest of France is famous for its great wine and good food, and for its rivers and beautiful countryside. It has always been popular as a holiday destination for international visitors and the French alike, and they have enjoyed the climate and outdoor activities like cycling, canoeing, walking and  horse riding. But, did you know that you can also enjoy some very good golfing?

Golf is a growing sport in France and our area now sports a number of very good courses. Some top class courses like Villeneuve Sur Lot Golf and Country Club and Chateau Vigiers offer a real challenge for more expert players, with longer yardages and tougher fairways. Some offer a more manageable standard for the  enjoyment of visitors. And there are some for beginners and fun.  They are often in beautiful locations, with stunning views while you ponder your next shot.

All of the courses have club memberships but also are friendly and welcoming to visitors on a pay and play basis. And the courses are surprisingly quiet so its easy to book tee times. And they often have extremely good bar and restaurant facilities, and often have accommodation available.

So while you’re looking at the beautiful properties for sale in the Dordogne and Lot et Garonne you can enjoy a few rounds in the sunshine.
